Hello All,<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Is it mid of March already! What was I doing so far! I am working on some thing exciting. Will share the details soon!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyhow, today's post is about the beautiful Quilled Orchid flowers. Continuing with my love of edge quilling!Drew the sketch referring to a real Orchid's stem. Yeah. I have been working on drawing skills too!</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Aren't these beauties!!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Have used hand cut 5 mm paper strips for this work. so far, all my quilled works have white/shades of cream backgrounds. This time I have decided to use black background to bring out the beauty of these yellow flowers and I am glad I did. Love the way they turned out.I am still looking for a perfect frame for this work!<br />
<br />
In the mean time, let me know how much you like them!<br />

Cheers,<br />

Though lately there aren't many posts from me , this is a year of new things and trails! Have tried techniques in quilling which I thought I could ever make. If you see my last two posts, you can see a sample of works I have been trying! Today's post is also one such work! This one is a spiral work using spirals made of paper. The design is inspired by the beautiful Spanish tile patterns!</div>

So today's flower is from Buttercup family and is called Lesser Celandine. They are yellow little shiny beautifu<u>l</u> flowers. Have tried quilling these beauties with 1 mm hand cut paper strips. Did some water coloring and used fringed and curled paper strips for the center!</div>

Hello All,</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Oh god. I can't believe it's been almost six months I have posted something here! My bad. Almost neglected my blog. I should blame it on my new Instagram account (you can check out all my latest works <a href="https://www.instagram.com/vineetha_basana/" target="_blank">@vineetha_basana</a>) ;-)</div>
<div dir="ltr">

<div dir="ltr">
Though I haven't posted here, I have been busy with quilling all along. I am trying new <u>things</u> like edge quilling, 3 dimensional quilling. Sounds exciting right! Of course learning and improving my skills is too exciting and in love with the process.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
For today's post, it's going to be my first trail with edge quilling. I am a big fan of Cecelia's edge quilling works and after stalking her blog for some years(Yup. A honest stalker ☺), I finally decided to give edge quilling a try. So without much talking , here it is. My first ever edge quilling project! </div>

Hello all,<br />
<br />
Today's post is about a name plate I have made to gift my dear uncle! When you started making handmade gifts, you don't feel comfortable buying gifts from a store. You jump right in to the opportunity to make a personalized gift to your dear ones. This is what happened when my uncle retired from work and I wanted to give him a quilled name plate with his family name!<br />
<br />
This is an attempt of quilled typography. Loved the way how it turned out!! Have used 5 mm and 3 mm strips to work on this.<br />

Hi all,<br />
<br />
It's already last working day of 2017!! All excited for 2018 right! Well...Wish you all a very happy and peaceful new year!!<br />
<br />
For today's post, it is going to be the first quilled portrait I made of my close friend's son!! The idea about this started two years ago..definitely not by me..It's she who came up with this idea of making her son's picture with quilling!! I was terrified of the thought because was not sure how to capture the eyes and expressions of human face with quilling!! So conveniently kept the thought aside :-)( Easy job right ;-) )<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Happy and smiling kiddo :-)</td></tr>

One day when had enough courage to give it a try, it all started!! It definitely took more time than any of my other projects till date! Started with eyes first.. Happy that they didn't turn out angry eyes (which is usually the case when I draw ;-) ) and then comes the smiling face ! Had to rework few times to achieve the expression! Very happy with the way whole thing turned out! My friend was very happy with it too .. Happy me :-) :-)<br />

It's been ages I have visited this place :-( My bad!</div>

<div dir="ltr">
For today's post, I am going to show you guys how a simple cardboard box turned into a table centerpiece with little bit of DIY and quilling! Inspired from pinterest, always wanted to make a centerpiece for dining table. Once I found the cardboard box, jumped on to the job at hand. Have glued the jute twine to the cardboard with hot glue gun. It's time to add bit of color. There enters quilling. Made three simple flowers and some leaves. Made an arrangment on one side of the box. Tadaaa.. my centerpiece is ready. Loved the way those flowers sit against the rustic jute backdrop!!</div>

Hi There.<br />
<br />
Let's have a quick post on the quilled stag I made last year!! I liked the way quilling brought out the muscularity of the stag!! Have used 3 mm strips for both stag and the grass. Have you noticed those tiny flowers! They definitely added some color to the frame! Don't you agree!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgufu9fbSvS9dYGQ2YNBUYn3fkJ4EhNu-MUV1yJe143IUBlwOV6mdgso1w92lYIiOmqqm194mTBV_Fwi1-EAW6He8I-wxtPLfutdzFyrWR-wXgY8r8RUFDe5cTWBcr7-SI_es6v8eOIUtgs/s1600/IMG_20170908_114404_wm%257E01.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="275" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgufu9fbSvS9dYGQ2YNBUYn3fkJ4EhNu-MUV1yJe143IUBlwOV6mdgso1w92lYIiOmqqm194mTBV_Fwi1-EAW6He8I-wxtPLfutdzFyrWR-wXgY8r8RUFDe5cTWBcr7-SI_es6v8eOIUtgs/s320/IMG_20170908_114404_wm%257E01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Just to get a grass effect, I have sponge painted green acrylic as grass bed!! While framing this work, I wanted a rustic look for the finished product. So used some old twigs and a jute twine to make a frame and covered the work with transparent plastic sheet to avoid dust!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Have hanged the work with same twine on a wall. In love with the rustic look! Have a great week guys!<br />

Hello all,</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today I have turned one as a blogger. Yayyyy :-) Still remember the hesitation I had before starting this blog! After a much needed push from friends, this blog was born. I am very happy with the blogging journey so far! Very recently Cecelia from <a href="http://paperzen.blogspot.in/" target="_blank">Paper Zen</a>( A biiiiiggggg fan of her work. She has 3 published books on quilling to her credit) gave great feedback for my <a href="https://mylittlequillingworld.blogspot.in/2016/10/mom-all-rounder.html" target="_blank">Quilled Peacock</a>. I am on cloud nine:-) :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
For today's post, I made this Quilled monogram to celebrate the 1st anniversary !! It was long pending to make an attempt at Quillography( For those of you wondering about the word..its nothing but Quilled calligraphy). Loved the way things turned out!! Much needed boost to start a bit tougher calligraphy styles!</div>

Hello all,</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
It's been a month since my last post! For today's post, it is going to be beautiful Quilled Rajasthani lady. Ever since I got enough confidence in doing big works(yes...A4 size is big enough for me), wanted to do a Rajasthani lady carrying those water pots on her head walking in dessert. It's a tough job for them but the sight of ladies wearing most beautiful and colorful dresses is just great.. Took a pencil sketch as an inspiration and then started one of the trickiest works of mine !</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Yeah I say tricky because getting the effect of lehenga's frills was a bit tough! But not as tough as I thought it would be. Well! as they say, you never know what you are capable of until you try ☺ Only 3 mm strips were used for the work. <u>I</u> love working with thinner strips. Yet to try with 2 mm though!</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Here comes the colorful lady! Loved absolutely the way her lehenga with the border turned out. For the desert, have glued real sand as dunes.</div>

Hi all,<br />
<br />
Today's post, we are going to see quilled version of the mighty <a href="https://www.google.co.in/search?q=monarch+butterfly&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwjM6Nzppo3UAhWHwI8KHXgpA90Q_AUIBigB&biw=1350&bih=619" target="_blank">Monarch Butterfly</a>! All of us would have definitely seen these colorful beauties once in our lives. Haven't we!!<br />
<br />
For my quilled version, I have taken a drawing of the butterfly as reference and the results came out very nice! Why wouldn't it. Classic orange and Black combination makes wonders right!!<br />

Before framing it, I used to arrange the butterfly in random places like among the flowers in flower vases, stick it to the weight of a wind chime. That was fun as it looked like a real butterfly was visiting home!(Dint have any pictures though).<div>

After couple of years when I wanted to make a Quilled bird, couldn't think of anything else!! Then comes the search for the bird name referring Rio movie and there it is.. Beautiful Toucan!! </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hello all,</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Its time for some of the car hangings I made! One of my early quilled creations was a car hanging. That was made for parents' new car. It was a butterfly!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyzmTAOzQpeY8I6GHhEVRJnPlKTfbi0SPfHLfRRcnB1iCix0U40yt_rY1kWhZB0PlyKIvYRGpP1qPqnUcoItHXpEXcDdba379Kj2MhR1EW0gQ1Oo34fpaZLVAVFS5o0fB-5pZ1UHoztLKK/s1600/IMG_20170315_141657_wm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyzmTAOzQpeY8I6GHhEVRJnPlKTfbi0SPfHLfRRcnB1iCix0U40yt_rY1kWhZB0PlyKIvYRGpP1qPqnUcoItHXpEXcDdba379Kj2MhR1EW0gQ1Oo34fpaZLVAVFS5o0fB-5pZ1UHoztLKK/s320/IMG_20170315_141657_wm.jpg" width="136" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I see it now, I think to myself...Please hide it some where. There was no technique. nothing. Only excitement to create some thing with colored strips(Hand cut from colored sheets. Now I buy quilled strips!)</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With time, I definitely got some experience! When got the opportunity, gave it a second shot. This time it is fringed flowers!! Had to cut too many blue strips to make these tiny fringed flowers!! Here it is...Blue heart with fringed flowers❤❤❤❤</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A closer look !!</td></tr>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"> </span>Isn't it pretty!! Parents have retired the old butterfly and replaced it with the blue heart now ☺☺☺</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is the second hanging. This time it comes in mango shape ☺ For this, I wanted to try Indian mehandi design! Had to cut the card board in desired shape! Two coats of painting for the white background and working with small pieces of paper to achieve the mehandi design!! Thoroughly enjoyed the making. Don't you think it turned out well!!</div>

Hello all,<br />
<br />
A very happy Valentines day to all of you!!!<br />
<br />
The other day when I was thinking about the topic to write, I could think of only one thing.. Tamilnadu Government crisis! With all the fuss that is going on in media, one thing kept me wondering! Just because you were a friend to powerful leader once, does that necessarily make you a leader?? By the time I started drafting today, supreme court gave its judgement after a verrrrryyyyyyy long time of more than twenty years! Better late than never I guess!Watching news telecast now, one more thing caught my eye! OPS supporters are celebrating the judgement and distributing sweets!! Is this the celebration time? I mean the judgement just made your late leader a convict of disproportionate assets !! Well. Thats my point of view!<br />
<br />
Coming to my quilled work, its valentines day special. Another quilled heart! In my <a href="https://mylittlequillingworld.blogspot.in/2016/11/quilled-heart.html" target="_blank">first heart</a>, leaves were of crepe paper. Here everything is of quilling. All the flowers are made with tight coils and water proofed also. Leaves are all loose coils with different shades of green! For pollen, I have used store bought ready made pollen strands. Struggled a bit while assembling but it's of worth..Loved the way it turned out. Every thing falls in right place.<br />

<span style="text-align: left;"> Starting from December till January, it's all festivities, holidays, new year celebrations and then comes big festival Sankranthi. Love this season especially Sankranthi...Have fond memories of childhood with all our cousins meet at grand parent's place. On Bhogi early mornings we used to run to the bhogi manta(bonfire) at the end of the street...On Sankranthi pooja, new dresses and so many sweets.Yummm...Love those days... All family gatherings, friends, holidays. Too many varieties of food and for food lovers like me, It's heaven.. Ahhh almost forgot...Shopppppping. Too many offers to choose from. People who are crazy for shopping go nuts this time of the year(no, I am not at all a shopping </span><u style="text-align: left;">freak</u><span style="text-align: left;">). Holidays for kids' schools,vacation time :-) On the whole, two months jam packed with fun.</span></div>

And for quilling, today I am going to show you some of the ear rings I have made with quilling paper. I love paper jhumkas very much. The finishing we can achieve with paper jhumkas is unbelievable and don't worry, they are water resistant too. Now all my favorite dresses have a perfect matching jhumkas.. Happy me :-)</div>

Hello all,<br />
<br />
First of all A very happy new year 2017 :) Though bit late with the wishes, it's never too late :) This is time of the year every one have a list of things with priorities ordered!Yeah.. talking about Resolutions!! I am sure most of you would have finalized your list for this year 2017...That's a good step...but people like me, that's the only step we take ;-) and the next time we think about resolution is, the next new year;-)I know I am not alone here.At least some of you are having a smile relating this to yourselves :-) This year I decided to enroll myself for a painting class...fingers crossed and determined to take more steps this time !!<br />
<br />
Being the first post of this year, here comes the biggest of my quilled works till date...After my successful attempt of the <a href="https://mylittlequillingworld.blogspot.in/2016/10/mom-all-rounder.html" target="_blank">National Bird</a>, decided to give tribute to the national Animal..I was bit skeptical on how to proceed with the tiger's face..So started with body first and left the faces till last!! I wanted to capture the facial expressions and very satisfied with the way they turned out.. It took almost 15 days time (was working on and off ) and lots n lots of quilling strips to fold and roll..Worth the effort and loved it <3<br />

<div dir="ltr">
Hello all..</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Last few days, media has a jackpot with big stories. Yeah. You know them. Most awaited elections in the world and the second one is completely unexpected and now most unwanted(mostly by politicians from opposition parties) DEMONETISATION. The US presidential elections results were really surprising! But more surprising is Mr. Modi's decision to cancel big notes! Indian media is going crazy over this news talking about the negatives it is causing to the common man! It is definitely causing issues to common man but all of us are ready to face them for a better future. Aren't we? In my opinion, we humans are against any change even if it brings some good to us because we love to live in our own cocoons of comfort zones and even a slight change will cause mayhem. Lets stop magnifying the problems we are facing and will face for some more days and think about the big picture!!</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Coming to the quilled work for today.. I just poured out my heart for quilling this :-) Started with making the flowers. It took couple of trails to get the three dimensional look. For the leaves I have used the crepe paper and thin wires. Here comes the hard part to get the heart shape from the regular G wire which is lying at home and then wrapping it with crepe paper for the blue heart <3 We are almost there..It's time to assemble everything in place. Loved it <3<3 Instead of framing it, I am just hanging it on the wall...</div>

<div dir="ltr">
Hello all,</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Hope you all had a great Diwali. This year I was planning to celebrate the festival of lights in its true spirit i.e. no sound and air pollution!! Wanted to light only diyas and candles but not crackers.. With DIY spirit high this year, I hand painted any glass jar at my dispense and converted them to candle jars. Was so excited to light them all. I will share those jars in a separate post( yes.. u have to wait)!!! In the last minute plans, we went to friend's place for a get-together and there was no limit for sweets, food delicacies, FUN and of course CRACKERS...Though reluctant for some time, I was in the front to empty most of the crackers..shame on me :-(</div>
<div dir="ltr">
I have noticed one of the neighbors during our fun time... instead of firing crackers and contributing to the pollution, they were planting saplings in the evening. Not only they are following pollution free festival, they were contributing to the society by spreading greenery...great way of celebrations. A reminder for the rest of us!!!</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Coming to the quilled creations, today we are going to see some miniatures I have made as fridge magnets!! This cute teddy was an inspiration from one of the blogs I follow. This was a favorite of many. Have made it couple of times.</div>

Lazy me...It took so many days to start this post ...<br />
<br />
With me doing quilling more vigorously and trying new stuff, I am loving making things and gifting people.. .There is always a special feel when you receive any handmade gift...It just tells us that they have spent some precious time in thinking and making a gift rather than a store bought one.<br />
<br />
Here are some..I made a photo frame for BIL's birthday.... Totally love the way few basic things like cardboard, hand made paper and some quilling ..transformed into a beautiful frame.. Have tried Husking, Quilling comb and Beehive techniques to do the grass, tree and the flower (in right bottom of the frame) respectively...<br />
<br />
Which part do you like most!!<b style="background-color: white;">Colorful</b> <b>tree</b> or <b>Grass </b>or <b>Rainbow </b>or <b>The clouds</b>...My personal favorite is clouds <3 <3<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOdwQpGeLwlOJRkEDAu2Y0FB0rnOBGxSIsC30cCwGhOGHFu6ERb6zB-zoP_6Zc7Ca3ZuorGWmtoKED06rWsdW7QeyvNt7uzjJtE5_i0pZTHRmdeTdf3PjuCdUscg5BcDV5GSuOuJKaYSIK/s1600/2016-10-19+175101_wm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOdwQpGeLwlOJRkEDAu2Y0FB0rnOBGxSIsC30cCwGhOGHFu6ERb6zB-zoP_6Zc7Ca3ZuorGWmtoKED06rWsdW7QeyvNt7uzjJtE5_i0pZTHRmdeTdf3PjuCdUscg5BcDV5GSuOuJKaYSIK/s400/2016-10-19+175101_wm.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I love book reading...There were times I used to read books till late night and still remember the struggl to wake up in the morning to reach office...Now a days I am not reading much..not because of lack of time...My laziness plays a big part here...For self motivation, I made this bookmark for myself by recycling an old calendar for the heart and some old twine ....<br />
<br />
Just to see this book mark, I open my books once in a while ;-) What to do..Lazy me dominating the reader in me ....<br />

<div dir="ltr">
Just back from mom's place after having great time for couple of weeks... I was thinking on the topic to write about and what's best .. here u go.. my mom.. an all rounder... Those who know her in person will agree with me.she does everything.. she is the best cook.. she is into stitching... designing.... embroidery....crocheting..all DIY stuff.. what not.. everything....she is very artistic and creative.. Until recently, I used to wonder why is her creative gene dint come to me.. now I think it is slowly coming to me... Seeing my mom juggle between all these works and yet have that passion in everything she does...it definitely inspires.... Love her energy <3 <3</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Last year I wanted to quill something to my mom on her birthday..I was considering so many things but finally tried this mighty peacock...I really loved the way it turned out with its beautiful colors..Mom was quite happy to receive this... Now our national bird is sitting proudly in her living room..Once in a while the selfish me thinks to steal it from her ;-).<br />
Here it is...I wanted to share in-progress pictures but I lost them when my laptop crashed.</div>

<div dir="ltr">
Few years before, there was a time I was not having much work and bored to death at workplace.. When I told this to one of my friends.. he told me that if he has internet connection and Google with him.. He never gets bored ..I was asking him what would you Google about and he said anything and everything... Those days, my usage of Google was very limited.. To put in a better way.. I haven't mastered the art of googling then:-) Over the years I caught the interest in using Google and now I completely agree with my friend... As they say.. Google uncle has everything with him... You ask him about latest news... technology ...hobby ideas.. arts..crafts....blogs... you name it.....he will give it right away...In present times, with so many people who are very patient to write tutorials and making videos about how to paint, cook, sew.... to inspire us.... We are very lucky.... You can pickup any hobby that interests you. Go ahead and explore...add your creativity to it...and make sure you enjoy the process ...like I do:-)</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Coming to quilling, with paper strips people create colorful flowers.. some create flowers which look so real and life like.... Some just go with their creativity to come up with wonderful color combinations in flower making ... Well ... I myself tried making some flowers ( I am yet to explore my creative gene :-) )... and made a flower arrangement...Then framed it in hand made frame..yeah I made the frame also with cardboard, thermocol sheet .. hand made paper ..and lots of pins.... I like the way it turned out.. hope you also like it :-).<br />

<div dir="ltr">
After the pat on my shoulder for my first post...here I come with another one..</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Before I came across quilling...I was kind of crazy about cooking.. I was following different food blogs.. Knowing about many mouth watering dishes... trying them at home after having a long day at work. All I do was sauteing.... frying... cooking....baking.... Trust me, those were the days my dear husband loved the most :-) But this hobby definitely added few extra inches to our waist lines. Then came my mom with a timely warning... Thanks to moms... They are the best check points any one of us can ever have:-)...I had to give cooking a rest (of course we do enjoy occasional extra calories)....That is when I came across quilling and no way I will give it a rest at any cost:-)<br />

By this time, I have tried basic shapes of quilling and it's time to get hands on with some new techniques... Here I have tried husking to make a farewell card to one of my friends at work.... she absolutely loved it(In return I got great feedback from my colleagues. That's the best gift any one can ask for)... </div>

I was trying to make sunflower for the card but it was wayyyy tooooooo big to fit in the card. So I have decided to add color to my television(yeah.. the colors in the TV were not enough for me;-)). It is sitting beautifully on the corner and it definitely catches everyone's eye... Happy me....<br />

Hello everyone..<br />
<br />
After so much pushing from friends and family...finally I have dared to create a new blog to include you all in my Quilling journey......its been wonderful so far and I am sure we all are going to enjoy the ride and have great fun :) :)<br />
<br />
It all started around two years ago...I was just googling around and fortunately I came across these wonderful creations all with paper and till then I din't know there is an art named <b>Quilling </b>...Thats the moment I fell in love with quilling and paper of course:) I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw so many wonderful and lovely creations by many artistic people..I dint know we can make so much with paper.....I couldn't resist myself from trying the art of Quilling and I am telling you.. Thats the best thing that has happened ...<br />
<br />
There are so many wonderful bloggers who have guided me and any small and stupid doubt(I get most of them ;-)) ...you can refer to their blogs and voila....you get an answer in their posts....thanks to those gurus(who don't know they have a student :)).<br />
<br />
Ok...Enough said and read(I can see a grin on your face ;-))...Here are some of my works in the initial days of my quilling journey...<br />

Please don't mind the poor picture quality... now I have learnt that you need good natural light to get your works nicely photographed :) :)<br />
